This is the first wine bottled from Oregon’s 17th and newest American Viticulture Area, approved March 7, 2013. The source is the Bradley Vineyard in Elkton, long one of our top grape suppliers. Planted by John and Bonnie Bradley in 1983 the vineyard is situated on a west facing bench at 300’ elevation only a mile from our winery. Their site has proven to be excellent for this late ripening variety and our maritime climate here in Elkton allows for full flavors and aromatics to develop. Harvest for 2012 was October 25.
The wine opens with aromas of honey, with stone fruit peach and green apple enhanced by a lively 5 spice complexity. The flavors build on these themes with the addition of jasmine, banana and lemon zest. The wine is very crisp and refreshing with a medium lingering finish.
Grilled lobster, sushi and fresh fruit and creamy cheese plates spring to mind as ideal partners.
