Tripper "Reflections" Pinot Noir

A wine made to celebrate the spirit of adventure in all of us.  A wine that began to take shape with a painting, an idea and an inspiration.  We were presented with the painting and the idea to have a fun wine and label for those who love life on the road and choose to camp in the style and comfort offered by Airstream trailers.  Then a year later we met the artist, her daughter and learned that she was best friends with the fiancé of my son, small, small world indeed.  We have long taken some of our favorite pinot noir lots after bottling, and have blended them for a non-vintage wine, incorporating them with older vintages, keeping the wine fresh, but also having the complexities achieved with aging.  That is what you have in your hand. The wine is a lovely transparent garnet color.  The aromas are dominated by red cherries, blueberries, hints of cranberry with a medley of wild herbs.  The flavors add raspberries to the cherries, with some orange pith, coffee and mocha.  The wine’s mouthfeel is filling and supple.  The acidity gives it a nice zing, to compliment a moderately long finish and make this very food friendly.  This supple pinot would pair well with fatty fish like salmon or tuna, and has enough acid to go with grilled meats and savory barbeque sauces.  We love the label utilizing the painting, suggesting the planning of a trip, created by our graphic artist Chris Noud.  Sue named the wine, and me being a product of San Francisco in the ‘60’s I love the double entendre of that name wink, wink.
